Manfred Baumann tells about his new art sujet. Also he narrates about the topic inspiration and not at least he gaves an impression about the idea to the picture.
I get my inspiration for my photographs from the live itself. No matter if I am travelling around the world or am I sitting in cinema to watch a great movie, the photography is always in my head. A picture should tell more then you can see in the first moment. Memories in our subconscious are build from thousands of pictures which we have seen or lived through before. So it is since a few years my goal, to express myself like this in photography. In all of my new work is even much more behind then somebody would think. I photographed my new sujet on the one hand for my new exhibition in May in Frankfurt but also for my book which will be published in the timeperiod of the exhibition. I wanted to create a picture which is like a painting, so I decorated it with some small ideas. In this picture are many secrets equal if it is the posings, models or outfits. There are many details to detect. Soon the sujets will also be available on posters. But there will only three original copys exist. But now something more about the technical details. Like you could also see in the youtube video was the picture photographed with all participants together. So there were not made many single pictures which will be build together with photoshop. The location was the new renovated Moulin Rouge. You can see in the picture 14 models, four of them were professional the other were amateur models or private persons. Knowingly I decided this fact, because of this is an important part for me to tell my story. I planed the posings already 2 weeks before also about the outfits I planed everything. At this I became some support from my stylist, she also works with me at all advertising and model shootings. The assistens build up the set and light. All together we used 10 light sources, these were in different ways arranged. The models were in bathrobe before the shooting on their positions so I could arrange every single light. Primary as everything was perfect and I was contended with all we started with the shooting. Before Sissi and Nelly took care about the right make up which need to be very different at black and white photographys. We all had really fun at the shooting and I have now a new sujet idea in my head! Who wants to be a part of it can send some pictures and datas from you via mail. Maybe it works.

Die Inspiration für meine Fotografien schreibt für mich das Leben. Egal ob ich Heute um die Welt reise oder mir im Kino einen guten Film ansehe immer spielt die Fotografie eine große Rolle für mich. Ein Foto sollte deutlich mehr aussagen als man auf den ersten Blick erkennen kann.
Erinnerungen in unserem Unterbewußtsein sind und bestehen aus tausenden von Bildern die wir einmal gesehen oder erlebt haben. So ist dies in den letzten Jahren für mich das Ziel geworden, mich mit der Fotografie so auszudrücken. In all meinen neuen Arbeiten steckt weit mehr darin als man vermutet, auch inhaltlich. Mein neustes Werk habe ich zum einen für meine Ausstellung im Mai in Frankfurt wie auch für mein neues Buch welches im Zeitraum der Ausstellung erscheinen wird, fotografiert.
Ich wollte ein Foto schaffen, dass einem Gemälde gleicht, dieses habe ich dann mit vielen kleinen Ideen ausgeschmückt. In diesem Bild verbergen sich viele Geheimnisse egal ob es sich um Posings, Models oder das Outfit handelt.
Es gibt viel zu entdecken. Bald wird es dieses und andere Motive groß auf Posters geben. Originalabzüge wird es von diesen Sujets nur drei Stück geben.
Nun zum technischen. Wie ihr auch bereits in dem Youtube Video sehen konntet wurde das Bild als gesamtes fotografiert.
Es entstanden also nicht lauter Einzelfotos die dann mittels Photoshop zusammengefügt wurden.
Die Location war das erst kürzlich neu umgebaute Moulin Rouge. In dem Bild zu sehen sind 14 Models, davon waren 4 Profimodels und die anderen Amateurmodels bzw. privat Personen. Ich entschied mich bewußt für dies, da dies Teil der Geschichte ist die ich erzählen wollte. Das Posing hatte ich bereits vor Wochen skizziert und geplant, auch die Outfits waren für mich klar. Dabei half mir meine Stylistin die auch bei all meinen Werbe- und Modeproduktionen für mich arbeitet.
Die Assistenten richteten die ganzen Sitzmöglichkeiten und das Licht zurecht.
Insgesamt arbeitete ich mit 10 verschiedenen Lichtquellen. Diese wurden unterschiedlich gesetzt. Die Models nahmen vorab alle im Bademantel an Ihren Positionen Ihren Platz ein, so konnte ich Licht für Licht einzeln einstellen.
Erst als alles stimmte und ich mit meiner Einstellung zufrieden war ging es an das Shooting selbst. Davor sorgten sowohl Sissi wie auch Nelly für das richtige Make up, welches sich stark von einem Farbfoto unterscheidet. Allen Beteiligten hat es viel Spaß gemacht und ich habe bereits mein neues Sujet im Kopf!
