A photoshooting in New York is something really special. The city which never sleeps and in which only the best photographers are working and of course a lot of supermodels live. The flight from LA to New York was very comfortable. We could realx for some hours, by now I can only relaxe at night or in the plane. From the JFK airport we drove to the hotel. The temperature difference was very hard. We were accomodated in the Marriott Hotel at the Times Square with a view at it. Because of we rented the Eaglesnest photostudio I only did take with me my camera. Also with me I had an extern backup, 2 objectives and memory cards. The rest was organised and built by the photostudio. I was very happy to hear that the shooting will be with Steve Guttenberg, anyhow I grew up with "Police Academy". This movies were my first cinema visits. His films like "Three men and a baby", "Police Academy" or "Cocoon" were my favorite films. Also the romantic and funny movie "Short Circuit" is one of my best cinema memories! Maybe his biggest succes as artist was the TV movie "The Day After". Steve is since 30 years an successful actor and by now you can see him in the post production "ELDORADO", which you can see in the middle of the year in our cinemas. Also Daryl Hannah is in one of the main roles. Two hours before Steve came to the set we arrived at the studio. I took care with the assistance about the light. It was going about classic portrait photographies in the stile of Manfred Baumann. I used two softboxes, two pointed lights and brightener, all connected with a generator. Brightener and darkner were ready to use and Nelly took care about the make up. Then Steve personally called us to tell us that he will be 30 minutes later arrive at the studio. Because we had build everything up, it was no problem and we could start with the shooting when he came. As he arrived the whole team was ready and very excited to meet Steve personally. He was very friendly and easy in his handling. First I explained to him what my vision are at the shooting then I gave him to Nelly into the mask. 30 minutes later we started with the shooting. A real professional like Steve had of course no problems to get in coordination with the light. We talked a lot and found out that Steve has his roots in Austria because of his grandmother went in 1910 from Vienna to the US. So Steve has some austrian blood in his veins. He was really impressed and glad about the easy and comfortable surrounding we built at the set and then after three hours he leave us reluctantly. But we will keep the contact and maybe sometimes he will come to one of my exhibitions to Austria. Unfortunatly we had not much time in New York because at the next day at noon we flew back to Los Angeles!

Ein Fotoshooting in New York, ist schon etwas ganz besonderes. Die Stadt die niemals schläft und in welcher nur die Großen arbeiten und fotografieren sowie natürlich viele Supermodels leben.
Der Flug von LA nach New York war sehr angenehm. Wir konnten einige Stunden relaxen, das kann ich im Moment nur in der Nacht oder auf einem Flug. Vom JFK Airport ging es dann zum Hotel. Der Temperaturunterschied war natürlich sehr groß. Untergebracht waren wir im Marriott am Times Square mit Blick auf eben diesen. Da wir uns im Fotostudio Eaglesnest eingemietet hatten musste ich nur mit meiner Kamera reisen. Mit dabei hatte ich auch noch eine externe Sicherung, 2 Objektive sowie Speicherkarten. Der Rest wurde, wie immer, von dem Fotostudio organisiert und aufgebaut.
Ich hab mich sehr gefreut, dass es sich um ein Fotoshooting mit Steve Guttenberg handelt, ich bin schließlich mit "Police Academy" groß geworden. Das waren meine ersten Kinobesuche. Seine Filme wie "Drei Männer und ein Baby","Police Academy" oder "Cocoon" waren meine Lieblingsfilme.
Auch der romantische und witzige Film "Nummer 5 lebt" ist eines meiner schönsten Kinoerlebnisse! Sein vielleicht größter künstlerischer Erfolg war der Fernsehfilm, "Der Tag danach" (The Day after).
Steve ist seit über 30 Jahren erfolgreicher Schauspieler und derzeit in der post production "ELDORADO" zu sehen, welcher mit Mitte des Jahres in unseren Kinos erscheinen wird. Mit dabei auch Daryl Hannah in einer der Hauptrollen.
Zwei Stunden vor dem Erscheinen von Steve kamen wir im Studio an. Ich kümmerte mich mit den Assistenten um das Licht. Es ging um klassische Portraits im Manfred Baumann Stil. Ich benutzte 2 Softboxen, 2 Spitzlichter und Aufhelllichter, alles mit einem Generator verbunden. Abdunkler und Aufheller standen bereit und Nelly kümmerte sich wie immer um das Make up. Dann kam ein Anruf von Steve persönlich, er würde 30 Minuten später kommen, ob das ein Problem sei.
Da wir bereits alles aufgebaut hatten, konnte das Shooting jederzeit starten. Als er ankam stand schon das gesamte Team bereit um Steve persönlich kennen zu lernen.
Er war sehr freundlich und einfach im Umgang. Ich erklärte ihm dann kurz, was ich mir vorstellte und übergab ihn dann an Nelly in die Maske. 30 Minuten später ging es dann los.
Ein wahrer Profi wie Steve hatte natürlich auch keine Problem sich gekonnt mit der Abstimmung des Lichtes in Szene zu setzen.
Wir haben viel geplaudert und erfuhren so, dass seine Wurzeln in Österreich liegen, da seine Großmutter 1910 aus Wien auswanderte. Er hat also österreichisches Blut in seinen Adern. Er war sehr begeistert welche unkomplizierte und positive Umgebung wir auf unserem Set hatten und so hat er uns nach drei Stunden nur sehr ungern verlassen. Aber wir werden Kontakt halten und vielleicht kommt er ja eines Tages zu einer meiner Ausstellungen oder Präsentationen nach Österreich. Leider hatten wir nur wenig Zeit ein wenig durch New York zu pendeln. Denn bereits am nächsten Tag ging es mittags wieder retour nach LA!
